Lantor Soric® Flexible Core
Core material and infusion medium in one
Soric is a polyester nonwoven material with a compression resistant
hexagonal (XF, SF, LRC) or random dot-printed (TF) cell structure. These
pressure-resistant cells, which are separated by channels, contain
synthetic micro-spheres.
The cells do not absorb resin and therefore limit the total resin
up-take. Since these cells are pressure resistant, they create thickness
in the laminate even when pressure is applied by vacuum bag. The
channels facilitate resin flow and form a pattern of cured resin with
good mechanical properties and excellent bonding to the outer skins.
Because of these unique properties and characteristics, Soric can
be used as:
* Thin core (bulker), adding stiffness, while reducing weight
* Inter-laminar resin flow medium, eliminating the need for other
(disposable) flow media
* Print blocker (liner), that meets the most demanding cosmetic and
finish requirements.
Soric SF
Soric SF is the general purpose grade, balancing resin flow and
surface quality. Soric SF is therefore especially suitable for thinner
laminates.
Soric XF
Soric XF maximises weight reduction in structural core applications.
Soric XF offers the fastest resin flow for the lowest resin consumption,
and is therefore ideal for thicker laminates.
Soric TF
Soric TF is the ideal product for the most demanding cosmetic and
surface finish requirements. Soric TF can be used as a core, but is most
often used as a print blocker in infused laminates.
Development Product: Soric LRC
(Low Resin Consumption)
Soric LRC is the latest grade in the Soric product line. Soric LRC
has a resin uptake of about 350 g/m2/mm.
Soric LRC is now commercially available in thicknesses of 1.5 mm, 2 mm
and 3 mm.
New Product! FR-Soric®
Flexible, Flame Retardant Core for Closed Mould
Processes
A Flexible Core Innovation for the “Fire-Smoke-Toxicity Market”
What would it be worth to you to
increase the FST- performance of a composite part and have similar
processing and properties present or improve processing and mechanical
properties with the same FST performance?!
The world today has several interesting and important challenges to
face. Reducing oil/fuel usage, providing mobility and transportation to
the ever growing number of “world-inhabitants” and providing
sustainable housing are just some of them.
The challenges of “mobility and reducing fuel usage“ support the idea of
a growing and more complex “public-transport-society” in which more
focus is put on public transportation possibilities which are available
or can be developed.
In both cases an important strategy is creating
lightweight-designs. In other words: make the transportation
vehicles as light as possible without compromising today’s design-,
comfort-, functionality- and safety requirements.
Composite solutions following this strategy offer both designers
and engineers a whole range of possibilities, which are in fact exciting
and challenging themselves as design freedom with composites is
enormous and properties can be tailored according to
requirements.
Two important processes usable for abovementioned solutions are
Vacuum Infusion and RTM-Light primarily due to cost efficiency
requirements. A new Flexible Fire Retardent Core, FR-Soric, is under
development by Lantor BV which is suited for both these processes and
will support lightweight composite solutions in the Mass Transit and
Building & Construction market.
In this new FR-SORIC, the loading of
the Halogen Free flame retardant can be tailored, depending on
it's application. FR-Soric enables you to have all the Soric advantages,
e.g. design freedom (flexibility) weight reduction and flow support,
and Integrate the supportive fire resistant role of this flexible core
in your “FST-application”.
This new material will Enhance FR-properties in a GRP-laminate,
resulting in less after burning time, less destroyed area, less smoke
and overall easier passing of FR-tests.
